Worship Schedule

February Worship Schedule

Sunday, February 5th: Today we begin a series of messages on the church’s mission with a sermon called “Missions in the Name of God” and based on the great commission in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Children- and youth-led Family Worship at 9:30 will focus on the theme of love. We will gather together at the Communion table, and musician Mark Kroos, who plays a two-neck acoustic guitar, will provide special music at all of the services. On this “Souper Bowl” Sunday, our youth will collect canned goods for PACS after each service.

Sunday, February 12th: Today in a message on “Building the Kingdom of God” we will consider how Jesus embodies God’s kingdom in his first sermon, delivered in Nazareth and recorded in Luke 4:16-21. We will also celebrate Scouting Sunday; we invite Scouts of all ages to wear their uniforms to worship and be recognized. At 2:00 David Bryant and Teresa Nevola-Moyer will present a recital entitled “Confessions of the Soul.”

Sunday, February 19th: Our sermon series on the church’s mission concludes with a message on “Grace in the Name of Jesus Christ.” On this Sunday which marks the transfiguration of the Lord, we consider a quality of Christ that changes us and all who encounter the powerfully transforming gift of grace.

Wednesday, February 22nd; Ash Wednesday: We will be joined by our friends from Valley Forge United Methodist Church as we gather for worship at 7:30 p.m. to share in Communion and mark the beginning of Lent with a solemn experience of repentance and forgiveness as we receive the ashes that remind us of our own sinfulness and mortality.

Sunday, February 26th: On this first Sunday in Lent we begin a sermon series on Giving—The Sacred Art: Creating a Lifestyle of Generosity based on the book of that name by Lauren T. Wright. We invite you to read this book as part of your own Lenten discipline and study. Today we consider “Giving as Worship: Responding to God’s Generosity with Joyful Gratitude. A reception to honor Rev. Dick Howarth and thank him for his ministry as our visitation pastor will follow the second service. Safe Sanctuary training for all volunteers with children and youth will be offered throughout the morning.
